Typelevel Affiliate Project Applications
This page outlines the guidelines and application process for projects that want to become Typelevel affiliate projects.
Affiliate projects are independently-owned projects that are part of the wider Typelevel ecosystem, without being hosted in the Typelevel GitHub organization.
Who Should Apply
Open an application if your project:
- Uses, extends, integrates with, or complements Typelevel projects such as Cats, Cats Effect, FS2, etc.
- Is based on functional programming principles.
- Is distributed under an OSI-approved open source license.
- Is publicly accessible on GitHub or another code forge (we recommend Codeberg).
- Is actively maintained and has a security policy (see Typelevel security policy or example policy).
- Has adopted the Typelevel Code of Conduct in all spaces associated with the project.
Application Process
- Submit the Application Form: Start the Affiliate Project Application Form. Complete every required field in the form and send your responses.
- Acknowledgment & Initial Review: A reviewer acknowledges the application and asks for any missing information.
- Evaluation: Reviewers assess the application against the criteria and make a decision whether to accept it.
- Onboarding: If accepted, reviewers coordinate onboarding and any follow-up work needed to add the project to Typelevel's public project index.
The application process is managed by the Typelevel Technical Steering Committee. Reviewers aim to provide an answer within two weeks of receiving a complete application.
